patagonia — Outdoor apparel brand buys back old items to repair and resell
Proof that positive impact on the world is the long-term direction of travel? Some brands have already been riding it for decades. How long until a cleaner, more ethical, healthier insurgent brand starts eating your lunch?
From February 2017, Patagonia is offering to buy back customers’ old apparel to be refurbished and resold. Via the buy-back program, customers receive store credit when they bring back old Patagonia items, and all apparel is accepted as long as it’s in reasonable condition. The outdoor apparel brand has also developed an eco-friendly washing method to clean returned items without the use of water. Once refurbished, apparel is available to purchase via Patagonia’s website.
