Code4Nation — App empowers individuals to bring transparency to Jakarta’s local elections

Kawal Pilkada – an app developed by Code4Nation – aimed to bring crowdsourced transparency to Jakarta’s local elections, which took place in February 2017. On voting day, volunteers could use the app to locate their closest polling station, and were encouraged to upload photos of the final count, with results displayed within the app in real time.  All collected data was processed and verified by a team of volunteers, allowing citizens to compare reported results with actual votes.
