Tiger Beer — Beer brand’s fund supports street food hawkers
September 2016 saw Tiger Beer launch the Tiger Street Food Support Fund, offering financial assistance new street food hawkers entering the market in Singapore. Hawkers can apply for up to SGD 10,000 (USD 7,190) in funding, which can be used to offset any business costs, except for rent. The initiative was only to new hawkers, or those who had set up a cooked food stall in a hawker center or coffee shop in the previous three months. Part of a wider initiative to nurture street food in Singapore, the fund was partly subsidized by a previous campaign that saw Tiger Beer pledge to reinvest 20 cents into its street food movement for every six-can pack purchase.
