New Dove kids care products are branded with positive affirmations

Research indicates that children as young as 3 years old are unhappy about their appearance or body. And the percentage that feels this way, jumps as they grow older. Attempting to quell those anxieties and let kids see themselves in a positive light, a new line of bath and body products by Dove is emblazoned with self-affirming statements.

The current collection, which is available in Canada and the US, features: "I am fantastic, smart and helpful", "I am awesome, brave and strong" and "I am thoughtful, caring and fun". The prompts are meant for grown-ups and kids to practice together. A QR code on the back of the bottle points caregivers to guides on how to develop confidence in children, as well as a not-so-great online self-esteem game for kids.

The bubble bath and body wash (including a slime wash!) build on the Dove Self-Esteem Project. Since its inception in 2004, the program has seen Dove partner with everyone from Lena Waithe to the Girl Scouts to deliver self-esteem education to young people. This is the first time that mission has been extended to a product line, which seems like a logical step, placing positive messages where families will see them daily. Can your organization help kids be kinder to themselves, loving their body the way it is, and for what it can do? It could be one of the most impactful moves you make.
