In a move that blends sustainability, try-before-you-buy and cause marketing, Barbour is partnering with Oxfam to rent out its iconic waxed cotton jackets at this year's Glastonbury Festival. For GBP 45, festival-goers can use a pre-loved and carefully reconditioned Barbour Re-loved jacket for the entire weekend. The rental service will be available through on-site Oxfam stores, with all proceeds supporting the NGO's vital work.
With Barbour Re-loved, which was launched five years ago, customers can send in or drop off their old wax jacket and receive a GBP 50 voucher for a new one. Coats are repaired and re-waxed at Barbour's factory before being sold through various channels and partnerships with brands like Ganni and Gucci. The Glastonbury 2024 initiative is the first time Barbour will offer them as rentals. Adding a new twist to vintage garb, many of the jackets will feature reused materials and fabrics from past Glastonbury Festival t-shirts and merchandise.
